The St. Regis is a luxury hotel conveniently located close to the center of
Houston, as well as the famous Gallery Shopping Center. A free shuttle to
the Gallery is available for the guests of the conference.
Transportation to and from the airport is by bus or taxi (less than 20 minutes).
Guest rooms are reserved at the St. Regis for Friday and Saturday nights at a
special rate: $145 single or double plus tax. Reservations should be
made directly with the hotel calling the number listing above before April 10,
2000. When registering please indicate that you are a participant of the
Pain Management Conference. The rooms at a discount rate are
available on a limited basis, so please make your reservations early.
ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of Texas -
Houston Medical School and The National Forum of Independent Pain Clinicians.

ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians and takes
responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME

CREDIT DESIGNATION
The University of Texas - Houston Medical School designates this
educational activity for a maximum of 14.0 hours in category 1 credit towards
the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only
those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational
activity. This CME activity contains 1 hour of ethics and/or professional responsibility
content as required by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
Needs Assessment
This continuing medical education activity is designed to improve the
understanding of new pain techniques and trends in the field of pain management.
Target Audience
This continuing medical education activity is directed primarily
towards physicians and other health care providers practicing pain management.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity the participant should be able to:
- Identify pain generators in lumbar spine
- Distinguish pain generators involved in complex
regional pain syndrome
- Demonstrate how to treat complex regional pain
syndrome
Method or Instruction and Evaluation
The method of instruction for this conference includes lectures, slides,
panel discussions, case presentations and question and answer sessions.
A course evaluation will be given to each participant.
